I am with you 100% on collaboration. Also, I am in the middle of Broom of the System, I believe it's DFW's first book.
In San Diego, there is currently a underway called "Art Meets Fashion" where 13 teams (which include an educator and documenter) are collaborating to produce work that will be displayed throughout city venues in April, 2011.
